According to the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal, storms that moved across Texas on Wednesday brought winds up to 70 mph. The gusts downed trees and power lines, taking out power to thousands of homes and businesses.

The National Weather Service says the winds took down more trees than usually because of the extremely dry conditions in the drought-stricken state. In addition, meteorologist Jason Dunn said trees that haven't been regularly watered are drying out, thus becoming weaker, and making them more susceptible to high winds.

Dunn also stated that the storms brought "maybe a tenth of an inch" of rain to the Dallas area. Oncor spokeswoman Megan Wright reported that they are working to restore power to around 30,000 homes and businesses in North and East Texas that lost power. Most of their customers were in the northern part of Houston.

The weather this summer has been very unpredictable, especially recently. It is crucial as a business owner to protect all aspects of your company. At Charles Short Insurance, we understand the major investment you have put into your passion, which is why we can offer you affordable Texas general liability insurance!

Our general liability insurance, along with property and worker's compensation insurance, is a crucial tool for your business. This policy specifically protects the assets of a business when it is sued for something it may have, or have not, done to cause personal injury or property damage.

High speed storm winds can cause a power line to be broken or a fallen tree to damage your building, which could in turn hurt an employee. Our coverage addresses accidents stemming from on-site occurrences.

In addition, the coverage can be designed to cover supplemental payments for attorney fees, court costs, and other expenses associated with a claim or the defense of a liability suit. The level of coverage a business may require relies on a few key factors: perceived risk and the state in which you operate.

Therefore, we strive to help you consider all aspects of your business to ensure that you are secure with the most appropriate policy available. Don’t let the weather get you down. Have peace of mind knowing you are protected with our Texas general liability insurance!
